Guess that five letter word that lits any of your 3AM hostel conversations or instantly comforts your hunger pangs when back from long boring college lectures. The woman of the hour is named Maggi and buoyyy, she goes places. I call Maggi a superwoman who can do it all. Whether it’s those sunday afternoon cravings while watching your favorite bollywood movie or catching up with your bestie after ages with a bowl of garlicky coriander soupy maggi, the sheer joy of eating maggi is truly unmatched. These instant noodles are basically the best invention mankind has ever made which is so heavenly satisfying, that it needs no ingredients other than the maggi packet (noodles +tastemaker), some heat and a pan.
My version of maggi requires probably 4 ingredients and an empty stomach. So let’s get started.
Prep Time : 15 minutes|Serves : 2 people
Ingredients:
- 5 tbsp oil
- 5-7 finely chopped garlic cloves
- 2 cups water
- 2 maggi noodle packets
- 2 maggi masala packets (tastemaker)
- 1/4th tsp mirchi powder (red chilli powder)
- 1/4th tsp haldi powder (turmeric powder)
- 1/4th tsp dhaniya jeera powder (coriander powder)
- Finely chopped coriander to garnish
Method:
- In a small pan, add 3 tbsp oil and let the oil and the pan both warm up.
- Turn the flame on medium heat and add 5-7 finely chopped garlic cloves in the hot oil.
- Sauté the garlic cloves until they turn pinkish brown. Make sure to not burn the garlic cloves in the process.
- Add 1 cup of water in the pan and let it turn lukewarm on medium flame.
- Add 1/4th tsp mirchi powder, haldi powder, coriander powder in the lukewarm water.
- Add two maggi tastemaker packets along with the other powders. Add salt to taste.
- Mix water and the masalas with a ladle. Add two maggi packets in the flavorful water.
- Now add 1 cup of water and cover the pan with a splatter plate.
- Keep the pan covered for 2-3 minutes until all the maggi noodles soak in the masalas and the flavor of the garlic.
- Uncover the pan and add 2 tbsp oil. Cover the pan again for 1-2 minutes. Let the oil soak in the noodles.
- Once the maggi noodles achieves the al dente consistency, uncover the pan and garnish with coriander leaves.
- Grating Amul cheese or laying a cheese slice compliments this garlicky maggi superbly.
