Growing up I never really was into burger or fries. I mean yea, occasionally, I would eat it back home in local joints and food carts but I did not crave for it until a McDonald’s chain opened in my school vicinity. All my friends were raving about it. So how could I miss it? I went with a couple of friends in my school uniform to try their most popular item – McAloo tikki burger. The taste was very easy to crack really – the body of an american bread with the soul of indian spices. It was exactly that. It was neither too bland nor crazy spicy. It was just right and to top it all, the sauce was bomb dot com. Recently my nephew was visiting from India, so I asked him what treat did he want for his birthday and he instantly said McD’s aloo tikki burger! So, obviously I had to fulfill his birthday wish by making a copycat version of McD burgers which he enjoyed through and through.
Fun fact about this recipe is that it is a lazy one, where you are legit only making the sauce and everything else is store bought. All you need to do is assemble everything and throw it in the buns! These lazy burgers are great to entertain a large crowd in backyard parties or just to simply enjoy at home when you feel like spending minimal time in the kitchen.
