What are even summers if fresh fruits don’t taste just a bit more sweeter and a lot more satiable than customary? My favorite go to fruits are all kinds of berries- especially strawberries. Strawberries are so pink, slightly sour but far more sweet and the just the right amount of juicy. It is my sunday farmer’s market ritual to unforgettably buy two baskets of strawberries. Sitting by my tall window, watching the well bloomed purple foxgloves at 5pm on a scathing hot day, a cold strawberry thick shake in my right hand and counting my joys instead of my woes. Thats what I do on my bad days and those 10 minutes gets me my mojo back.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 1/2 cup of strawberries (washed and sliced)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp sugar (optional)
  • 1/2 cup milk (whole milk preferred)
  • Chocolate chips/sprinkles to garnish

Method:

  1. Mix 1/2 cup of sliced strawberries with 2 tbsp sugar. Adding sugar to the strawberries can be skipped if the strawberries are sweet enough.
  2. Add 1 tsp vanilla extract to the strawberries and let the mixture rest.
  3. In a blender, add 3 scoops of vanilla icecream + 1/2 cup of whole milk.
  4. Add the sugar vanilla coated strawberries to the blender.
  5. Blend all ingredients on high until a smooth texture is achieved.
  6. Pour the milkshake in a tall glass and garnish with a whipped cream can.
  7. Add chocolate chips or chocolate sprinkles  on top of the whipped cream and one strawberry on the rim.
