Imagine doing an intense hike on a scorching hot day! Just imagine. You burned 1000 calories going uphill & downhill in varying terrains. You are exhausted, the sun is not showing any mercy! In that exact moment, what do you really want?
What I really want is a liquid that is cold, sweet & strong enough to get me out of my bone tired zone. Seems like I just described my husband. LOL! Turns out all the response to my cravings was iced café Bombón.
What is Café Bombón?
It is an utterly sweet espresso drink that stemmed from Spain which eventually gained popularity around the globe. It is a beautiful amalgamation of two very strong flavors served in a glass cup. Two main ingredients condensed milk & espresso shots are poured in a 1:1 proportion, which forms two charming distinctive layers in the glass.
Well, my version also includes a third layer which is frothy, creamy and just a tad bit salty.
Prep Time: 2-3 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2oz(4 tbsps) condensed milk
- 2 espresso shots
- Milk
- sea salt
Method:
- In a glass cup, add 4 tbsps of condensed milk.
- Add 3-4 ice cubes to the condensed milk. (Step 1 & 2 are interchangeable)
- Add 2 espresso shots slowly, so the condensed milk does not dent.
- Take 2 tbsps cold milk and add a pinch of sea salt to it.
- Froth this salty milk using a frother for a minute.
- Carefully lay the frothed milk on top of the espresso layer using a spoon.
